MLA Mahesh Landge, while addressing Pimpri-Chinchwad residents through social media, discussed the vision of transforming Pimpri-Chinchwad into a Metro City. He highlighted the progress of various initiatives and upcoming development projects during the discussion.
Metro Benefits Over 10 Million People The initial phase of the metro project, connecting Swargate to Pimpri, was launched, followed by the second phase from Pimpri to Nigdi, based on public demand. MLA Landge said that the metro service has played a key role in improving the connectivity between Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad during his 10-year tenure. He noted that over 10 million people in these cities and surrounding areas have benefitted from the project, which stands as a symbol of sustainable development for the city’s future.
Advocacy for Upcoming Metro Routes In the future, the plan is to extend the metro network to improve geographical and industrial connectivity in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Proposed routes include extensions through Hinjawadi, Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Nashik Phata, Bhosari, and Chakan, as well as from Nigdi to Wagholi via Moshi and Charholi. MLA Landge assured that efforts are being made to secure approval for these expansions from the state and central governments.
Development of 26 Parks in 10 Years The city’s green initiative has been a priority from the outset. By 2014, Pimpri-Chinchwad had 43 parks, and over the past decade, 26 new parks have been developed. The central government has sanctioned Rs. 7,500 crore for the Pune-Nashik Elevated Corridor, which will improve travel times between Nashik Phata and Khed and alleviate traffic congestion in areas like Bhosari, Moshi, and Chikhli. This project will also stimulate the industrial and commercial sectors. The corridor from Mukai Chowk to Wagholi is making steady progress.
Commitment to Traffic Solutions An International Safari Park has been proposed in Moshi, which is expected to boost tourism and create job opportunities. The completion of the Palkhi Highway from Alandi to Pandharpur has reduced traffic issues and accidents. MLA Landge also pushed for the construction of a road along the riverbed from Talwade to Charholi, which will help ease traffic on the Dehu-Alandi road. He emphasized that enhancing traffic flow remains a top priority.
“As an auto hub, industrial hub, IT city, and now a Smart City, Pimpri-Chinchwad is evolving into a Metro City. We have taken the initiative and are ensuring consistent follow-ups on various projects to achieve this. Pimpri-Chinchwad residents have placed their trust in me during the 2014 Assembly, 2017 Municipal Corporation, and 2019 Assembly elections. I am committed to working diligently to justify that trust. It’s a source of pride that our city has emerged as a Metro City,” said Mahesh Landge, BJP MLA, Bhosari Constituency, Pimpri-Chinchwad.
